Bill Haley and The Comets: Home

Bill Haley was there from the beginning - he was blending sounds from country, dixieland and R&B before the term "rock and roll" was even invented. He and His Comets played the soundtrack of the rock and roll revolution.

In 1954, bandleader Bill Haley (vocals, guitar; born July 6, 1925, died February 9, 1981) and His Comets recorded "Rock Around the Clock in 1954, a rock anthem that stayed at Number One for eight weeks and sold an estimated 25 million copies worldwide. For most of the 1950s, Haley was a presence on the record charts, and he appeared in several rock and roll movies aimed at teenagers. He has been called “the father of rock and roll” and “rock ‘n’ roll’s first star.” More on rockhall.com here and here...
